Cruising On…

Dedicated to former members of our club, we would like to remember the wonderful people who have touched our lives as members of our club.

Steven Weston of West Bend passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2018 at the age of 62.

Anyone who knew Steve could see his love for life. He was always happy to share what his family referred to as “Weston Lessons”. These proverbial lessons that often began with the words, Time Out or Back in the Day gave interesting advice that he was always willing to share with his family, friends, and co-workers at the West Bend Post Office. Steve enjoyed his Wednesday mornings with “the breakfast club” and spending time driving his ’87 Corvette with “the cool guy car club.” He was a Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan and often harassed about his love for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. It was not unusual to see Steve spending time with friends on Packer Sundays. Steve enjoyed golfing and adventures to Las Vegas with his wife, Kathy. He was thrilled when he achieved a hole-in-one in 2016 and hit a jackpot in 2015. Steve was an avid bowler and received many awards that included 300 games and 800 series.

Steve was especially proud of his family and treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed planning and hosting special gatherings for family and showing off his skills as an outstanding grill master.

Steve is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife Kathy, his three children Kyle (Amy) Weston, Karie Weston, and Alexandra (Justin Abel) Weston, his grandchildren, Aubrey, Payton, and Brekyn. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley, brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Special Uncle to many nieces and nephews, also survived by caring relatives, friends and neighbors. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Grace and Clarence Limbach, and brothers-in-law Lou Neuworth and Roger Emling.

Randall “Turtle” Potter, of Cedarburg, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Friday morning, February 19, 2016 at his home. He was 67 years old. Turtle was born September 8, 1948 in Milwaukee, the son of Wayland and Pearl (nee Holz) Potter. On June 16, 1979, he was united in marriage with Sandy Lyons in Milwaukee. For nearly 15 years, he worked as a truck driver for Service Heat Treating, Inc in Milwaukee, and retired in 2013. Turtle was a proud member of the ABATE motorcycle rights organization,… the F.T.W. Days annual camping trip and the Tennessee Squire Association. He was the mayor of Kirchhayn, and a founder and former President of the Kirchhayn Cruisers. He enjoyed motorcycle rides, rebuilding hot rods, yardwork, camping and restoring antique gas pumps. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Turtle is survived by his wife Sandy and his children Michelle Krohelski of Cedarburg and Jeff Potter of Grafton. He is further survived by sisters Debbie and Peggy, sister-in-law Jenny (Ralph) Seibt of Milwaukee, other relatives and many, many friends. He spent much of his time in the garage, repairing, rebuilding, restoring. Don was a man of admirable determination and a great friend to many of us.

Duwayne liked his motorcycles, blues music and his ’48 Dodge Rat Rod. He worked at Orion’s in Grafton most of his life, picked up everything he found and never threw anything away. Duwayne was liked by all who knew him and had a smile for anyone. Duwayne never gave up, fighting until the very end. He will be missed by friends, family and the Kirchhayn Cruisers.

.

Phil Hoehn, a friend, hotrodder and wiring genius. Phil was a member of the Wisconsin Street Rod Association for 40 years and also a member of the Kirchhayn Cruisers. His memory will live on in every friend that he helped throughout the years, and every car that is still runnng because of his talent. “May the Pabst always be cold, your hotrods fast, and God Bless.”

Roger Draeger was born May 16, 1954. He grew up on the Northwest side of Milwaukee off of Good Hope Rd and attended Custer High School.  He served our country in the U.S Army and worked at several Milwaukee area manufactures as a maintenance mechanic. His passion was motorcycles and old cars. Roger owned a 39 LaSalle, a 56 Olds 88 and a 2001 H-D Heritage Springer Softail. He also had a 70’s E-Glide Shovelhead until a few years ago.  Roger enjoyed working on his own cars and bikes. He loved riding his bike, drinking PBR, and having a Lucky Strike. Roger was a stand up guy that would help anyone with anything. Though small in stature, he wasn’t afraid to let you know when you were full of it. Roger passed away on May 24th 2010, leaving behind three children, two sisters, and many friends. An all around good guy, he will be missed by all who knew him.

.

Karen Engel, wife of Jerry, suffered a heart attack on March 2, 2010 and passed away. Karen was a good friend to many and loved to have small gatherings at her house, where she served her famous cocktail meatballs. She was also the life of the party at Dick and Betty’s, singing karaoke. There were times when she’d call and invite someone to an event in Sussex. If you asked her where it was, she would always say it was just down the road from her house. It would be miles away, but it was “just down the road”.  Before joining Kirchhayn, Karen and Jerry were members of the Nostalgic Car Club (Karen was Sergeant of Arms), and the Wisconsin Street Rods. Karen loved their 1957 Ranchero. Jerry sold it at one time and she bugged him until he bought it back. Karen was taken on her final ride in that beloved automobile, and now she is at peace, just down the road.

.

Jim Koffke, known to most as Short Shit, was an all around fun person. Best friend to Jack and Lynn Sullivan. He was a member of Waukesha Ol’ Car club and a Kirchhayn Cruiser. He was employed at Inland Diesel and was a master engine builder and re-builder. Jim also loved his cats. He fell asleep getting ready for work with a cat on his lap, and never woke up. Jim’s send off at the Pinelawn cemetery was an awesome sight. So many cars from many different clubs driving through that beautiful cemetery to honor Jim was an inspiration to the employees that run the park. This showing of friends and family who loved Jim prompted the ever growing annual Memorial Day Car show at Pinelawn Cemetery.
Come to Pinelawn every Memorial Day and honor not only Jim but the many veterans have given so much to our lives.

.

Eddie Sauer Ed’s greatest passion has always been his love of cars. He developed an impressive collection of corvettes, hot rods and other classics until his wife implemented the “Buy One/Sell One” clause of 2004. Ed’s latest project was a 1936 Ford that was to become his masterpiece hot rod. Though he won’t be able to complete the project, Ed’s good friends and fellow members of the Kirchhayn Cruisers Car Club were able to finish his car to a point that allowed him to hear his Hemi engine roar. It was Ed’s final joy before he passed, and for that his family and friends will forever be grateful.

.

Tom Washebeck began his journey on February 10, 1959. Tom was the owner of T&T Trucking in Cedarburg, WI. and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed his 1956 Harley, a T-Bird and a Comet and being a member of the Kirchhayn Cruisers. Tom went on his final adventure on October 8, 2008. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

.

“Hudson” Tom Bosch, known as Hudson by many, was a very gentle man. He could be seen at many cars shows, driving his 47 Hudson pickup, with his little white dog named “Shotzie”. Tom was a member of the Kirchhayn Cruisers, Wisconsin Street Rod Association, and the 50’s Plus Club. He was usually seen with his best friend, Phil Hoehn, driving around or stopping off for a nice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon. He always sported his very handsome pork chop sideburns. We will miss you, hoping the Pabst is cold and the Hudsons many in Hotrod Heaven.
